The shed has a large assortment of metal working equipement including…. 2 lathes, milling machine, rolling machine, notching machine, folding machine, guillotine, plasma cutter, 2 x mig welders, tig welder, oxy acetylene, abrasive blaster, drill press, power hacksaw, pipe benders, bearing press and assorted other tools. Woodworking facilities will be available in the near future.
Plans for stage 2 and stage 3 have been drawn up and submitted to council. Stage 2 consists of the construction of a 9m x 5m amenities room with toilets, computers, tea and coffee facilities and a library. Most of the materials are available to construct this room as soon as council approval is granted. Stage 3 consists of a 10m x 20m building purpose built for woodworking. Funding for this is currently being sourced from grant applications.
The Huon Valley PCYC is a community owned facility which is self funded from memberships and other facility fees. The use of the PCYC’s Project Centre by the HMS is a reciprocal partnership between both parties and as a result forms a strong community alliance to further progress this precinct as a community hub for all to enjoy.
