Harcourts Novelty Cheque Handover

Yesterday was a really awesome day thanks to the The Harcourts Foundation and the Harcourts Huon Valley Team. Earlier this year we successfully applied for a grant to run a St. John’s Ambulance First Aid course for 30 of our members. Invitations will be sent out when we have some dates, first come first served.

As you can see the cheque was HUGE, but it will hopefully save lives and make us all more aware of safety in the workplace!

Thanks again to everyone for awarding us this grant!

Bendigo Community Bank

A couple of weeks ago, the HMS held the official opening of the vehicle hoist. This hoist will be used by the HMS to offer basic car maintenance courses FREE to the general public. Dates will be announced via the website and through Facebook.

We need like to acknowledge our most generous sponsor, the Bendigo Community Bank® for their steadfast support of our Shed, these guys understand the meaning of “Community”, and I hope this will make a difference!

Sorry for the late shout out, due to personal reasons it’s the first chance I really got 🙁

Computer Classes

Charles JohnstonUncategorized

It can be very limiting these days if you’ve missed the Information Technology bus. This Shed aims to help our members pick up a skill from novice to more advanced topics such as how to use Word, Excel and how to effectively and safely use the internet. Emphasis will be placed on security and how to recognise a good scam!

In 2018, the Huon Valley Council awarded us a community grant in order for us to purchase some Computer gear. We’ve managed to deploy it in the amenities and administrative space and as shown in the picture above, the boys are getting down to business! We’re very grateful for all the support we receive from community organisations and our council, and will strive to improve computer literacy through more training sessions.

Thanks Bendigo Community Bank®!

On Wednesday night, the HMS Committee accepted a cheque for $6,000 from the Bendigo Community Bank®! A huge thank you to the Bank® and their Community Grants Fund. The support of organisations such as this will make a big difference down the road.

The donation will be directed to the building of the amenities facilities for the Huonville Men’s Shed.

Huonville Men's Shed & PCYC

Has anyone ever noticed the amazing scenery behind the Men’s Shed in Huonville, which is co-located with the PCYC? Check it out by the way! http://www.hvpcyc.org.au/

The HMS is located at the back of this building – where the roller door is. If the door is open, the shed is open!
